AMERICAN CRITICAL CARE SERVICES (ACCS) is seeking responsible LPN's to provide services within the school system to children and young adults with special needs The LPN will assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a RN (Registered Nurse) The LPN will handle sensitive and confidential information and is required to follow all HIPAA laws.  Considerable professional judgment and critical thinking is required.

 Essential Job Functions:

Skilled nursing services will be provided primarily to children and young adults to include, but are not limited to, the following:

        Gastrostomy and nasogastric tube feedings by drip, pump, and/or syringe bolus methods.

        Tracheostomy care and suctioning as needed.

        Pulse oximetry for monitoring arterial oxygen saturation.

        Ventilator care and monitoring, to include diligent monitoring of patient and oxygenation.

        Nebulizer treatments

        Medication administration

        Blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration to students who require it.

        Urinary catheterizations.

        Seizure monitoring and management. Performing ALL Activities for Daily Living (ADLs) to include toileting/diapering, feeding, meal set up, transferring, transporting/walking, hygiene, dressing, etc.

        Other duties as required

LPN Qualifications:

        Three (3) years of nursing experience

        One (1) year of the total three (3) years of experience providing pediatric skilled nursing care. Pediatric experience specifically in a school, community, or home setting to children aged three (3) to twenty-one (21) years who have disabilities requiring skilled nursing services preferable.

        Comprehensive knowledge of first aid, CPR and AED operations

        Knowledge of medical conditions, practices, medications/side effects, procedures, treatments relative to the pediatric and young adult population

        Understands and reinforces appropriate hygiene practices

        Demonstrated ability to screen and assess illnesses, injuries and seizures

        Ability to respond professionally to any emergency situation

        Demonstrated care and concern for all under their provision of care.


Valid state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Must be First Aid/ CPR/AED certified and maintain current certifications for health care providers.
